Like all Canadians, we are shocked at the tragic event in Quebec City on January 29, 2017.

We offer our condolences  and prayers to families and friends of those injured at the Center Culturel Islamique de Quebec. We believe it is essential that people be able to assemble, worship and enjoy fellowship without fear of ridicule or violence.

Our College Community will participate with our colleagues on Memorial University Campus in a gathering to create a physical circle of support around St. John’s College Chapel where MUN’s Muslim community meets for prayer. This show of support is scheduled for Friday, February 03 at 1:00 p.m.

We invite and encourage students of  Queen’s College, our Faculty members, friends of Queen’s and guests to join us on Parking Lot 19 at 12:30 p.m. on Friday for a walk to St. John’s College to participate in the physical circle of support.

    • February 07, 2017 from 9:30 to 11:30
    • Presenters:  Rev. Maggie Helwig and Rev. Jeffrey Metcalfe.

This session will provide an overview and discussion of the document prepared and released by a task Force of the Anglican Church of Canada (2016) to provide a theological reflection on the meaning of money and how it functions in our present world. Bringing together biblical and historical reflections with theological and ethical concerns, the authors hope to stimulate thinking that will help the church to understand the relationship between faith and the monetary systems in which we live our daily lives.

Rev. Helwig (Diocese of Toronto) and Rev. Metcalfe (Diocese of Quebec) were members of the Task Force. They will present the overview and participate in the discussion.
